about
This track is all about the nefarious side of the music industry; the monopolisation of streaming platforms which presents artists with limitations over how their artform is managed and distributed. Additionally, is raises concerns over the disingenuous way certain individuals take advantage of bands to profiteer in the market. This track was written to enlighten the listener and more importantly empower all musicians into taking back control of their art. By rising above what ‘so-called’ industry leaders dictate to be sellable, fashionable and successful, we can all forge our own paths.
lyrics
This is the sound of something revolting,
A revolution slowly dissolving,
Lick the acid, take a litmus test,
Still alkaline, still unimpressed,
Sick and tired of this industry,
Filling buckets up from the stream,
Look at us, we’re all thirsty,
We don’t sleep, so we don’t dream
We will never be a part, We will never be a part of you
We can never be apart, We can never be apart from you,
Well I find it kind of insulting, this is what I am proposing,
I scratch your back, you scratch mine,
I’ve scratched your back, when’s my time?
You all want this for free, you love new music, support the scene,
But what does it all really mean,
when you take back handers from the PR teams!
Bring the sharks and the crooks,
You’re all sharks and crooks,
We will never be a part, We will never be a part of you
We can never be apart, We can never be apart from you,
Hello my name is____ from the company called____
If you sell these tickets, the you could play to the record execs from____
Hello my name is____ from the company called____
We’re not pay to play, but needless to say a little money goes a long, long way,
Hello my name is (we’re the sharks and the crooks) from the company called (we’re the sharks and the crooks)
Let’s make some money, we’ll take your money!
